EvoData at the UEC Youth MTB European Championships in Romania
04/08/2026
Managing technology and data for an international sporting event is always a stimulating challenge, but when the event is the UEC Youth Mountain Bike European Championships, the level of complexity increases significantly.
At this year's edition, held in Cheile Grădiștei, Romania, EvoData delivered the highest standards of accuracy and reliability for one of the world's most unique competition formats, managing an extraordinary number of young athletes (more than 600) competing across multiple disciplines.
What made the technical management of this event particularly challenging was the interconnected structure of the competitions for the M/W13 to M/W16 categories.
Specifically:

•Day 1 (XCT – Individual Time Trial): More than 600 riders completed a short course to establish the initial rankings and determine the starting grids for the XCC races.
•Day 2 (XCR – Team Relay): National and mixed teams of three riders competed in the relay event.
•Days 3 and beyond (XCC and XCO): This is where the competition became even more demanding. The combined times achieved in the opening Individual Time Trial and the XCR Team Relay were used to determine, on merit, the starting order for the decisive XCO races.

In a competition where every fraction of a second directly affects the starting grids for the following days, data processing must be flawless, immediate, and error-free.
To successfully manage an event of this scale while meeting the high-quality standards required by the UEC, EvoData deployed a fully integrated package of services.
Timing and Data Processing included comprehensive coverage of all scheduled disciplines (XCT, XCR, XCC, and XCO) across all men's and women's categories from 13 to 16 years of age.

Race Materials Production involved the creation of all race identification materials (handlebar number plates, race bibs, etc.), managed through the Compos platform.

Live Timing & Infotainment provided real-time data management for the LED wall in the finish area and the CIS (Commentator Information System) monitors used by race officials and the event commentators.
Managing multiple disciplines within a single event featuring such a large number of young competitors requires not only state-of-the-art technology but also outstanding operational flexibility on the ground.
EvoData once again confirmed its role as a trusted partner for major international federations, transforming organizational complexity into a clear, accurate, and real-time flow of information for athletes, race officials, technical staff, and spectators.
